The limited edition of 8 sculptures was published posthumously by Gallery Delaive, Amsterdam with the Estate of Sam Francis, California.
The sculpture illustrated in this catalogue entry is one of the editions that is on permanent display in the collection of The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens in San Marino, California. It is installed in the garden area next to the Virginia Steele Scott Galleries of American Art. Text from their audio tour guide notes: "What is striking about the Huntington's sculpture is its gestural quality embodied within an anthropomorphic and archetypal image. One can't help but see the sculpture's resemblance to Kanji –a system of Japanese writing using Chinese characters. It is as if the artist's three-dimensional work is conjured from a Zen master's strokes –– captured in motion as a reflective moment in time with the body-like form bowing to Asia."
On each sculpture there are two small cast plaques embedded at the bottom of each side of the form, with one that includes an etched facsimile signature: Sam Francis; and the other with the etched dates and edition numbers such as: 1979 - 2003 8/8.
